With high attention of the Faculty of Computer, the Faculty Platform is in an initial formation of one disciplinary platform, three research and development centers: Intelligent Transportation R & D Center, Sensor network research and development center, Machine olfaction research and development center.

1 Intelligent Transportation R&D Center

Supported by major project of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission (Study on Integration of Intelligent Traffic Control and Synergistic Induction under Both Vehicle and Road ), the object of this R&D center is based on the special OD path information and information interact environment of electronic license plate and vehicle navigation, study road network capacity and signal control OD path matching relationships; form a steady traffic signal coordination controlling system based on OD and path analyses, reduce the impact on the overall situation of local shortsighted dynamically adjust from the network level to have a regular basis to provide a stable and efficient traffic flow network signal timing coordination ; at same time use signal control intrinsic induction mechanism, guiding the driver route choice behavior to enhance the signal path control network capacity and to balance distribution of matching and improve the carrying capacity of the entire road network; also study the next generation of networking, networked car conditions, especially in intelligent transportation intelligent in the key features and main functions of  Traffic Control Possess, and provide a theoretical basis.

2 Sensor network research and development center

The object o f this R&D center is to develop the disaster simulation platform for urban rail transit emergencies (including natural disasters and man-made disasters), establish multisource, heterogeneous emergency information collection system, and to study and implement disaster monitoring and emergency treatment of analog systems.

3 Machine olfaction research and development center

Supported by the 085 project”, the object is to study the the basis of olfactory chemical mechanism, to explore the machine olfaction in various fields of application, to establish the first-class research field in east China industrial base. This R & D center is mufti-disciplines and is expected to be able to enhance the material engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, computer information processing disciplines, biological neural science and technology in several interdisciplinary research direction related to the construction and development, melting into the development of computer science which come and find new research directions and knowledge innovations. The current research includes: electronic nose in food industry applications, electronic nose in the flavor and fragrance synthesis, analysis, testing and other aspects of the application, also applicable to all areas of odor discrimination of pattern recognition algorithms and data visualization, machine olfaction in the chemical information database building applications and large-scale distributed data processing.

Based on the three R & D centers above, Automatic identification R & D Center and Embedded R & D Center would soon be established to fulfill one disciplinary platform, five research and development centers.
